Council members are split, with some warning the higher costs could hurt residents while towing companies argue inflation and fuel prices are squeezing their ability to operate in Hampton.
3. Swimming Proclaims 2026-27 Schedule (fooshya.com) — Old Dominion University's swim team will bring a multi‑school meet to the Hampton Aquaplex on January 8, giving local fans a chance to see Division I competition up close. Newport News jury finds man guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in slayings of Hampton mother, baby (pilotonline.com) — A Newport News jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the 2017 disappearance and presumed killing of a Hampton mother and her 8‑month‑old baby, last seen leaving a Hampton home. The verdict, reached in under two hours, brought emotional relief to family and friends, though the victims' bodies have never been found and sentencing is set for January.
