1. North Liberty Street Reopens Following Friday Evening House Fire in Harrisonburg (rocktownnow.com) — North Liberty Street in Harrisonburg has reopened after firefighters spent nearly three hours extinguishing a house fire at 245 North Liberty Street Friday evening. No one was home, no injuries were reported, and the blaze was contained to the second floor and attic before crews cleared the scene and reopened the roadway.
2. Enter to Win Tickets to See Sam Barber at Ting Pavilion! (969wsig.com) — Harrisonburg's 96.9 Country Legends is giving away pairs of tickets to see Sam Barber at Charlottesville's Ting Pavilion on Thursday, September 24, with online entries accepted through late Sunday, September 20. Central Virginia residents 18 and older can enter once, and winners must follow detailed station rules and pick up prizes through Harrisonburg Media Group's established procedures.
3. Harrisonburg teenager charged for threat against Westwood Hills (cvillerightnow.com) — A 14-year-old from Harrisonburg has been charged with a misdemeanor hoax bomb threat against Westwood Hills Elementary in Waynesboro, made days after a deadly shooting at the school. Waynesboro police say the threat was determined false, a suspect was quickly located with help from Harrisonburg Police, and the earlier shooting investigation remains active with multiple agencies involved.
4. Shenandoah National Park will begin installing automated entry stations this fall (whsv.com) — Harrisonburg-area residents heading to Shenandoah National Park will soon see new automated entry stations at all four park entrances, allowing credit or debit card purchases for standard seven-day passes. Existing passholders can scan barcodes when booths are unstaffed, and the system lets rangers remotely close Skyline Drive during dangerous conditions, improving safety and access.
