• Fierce competition expected for I-395 transportation funds in N. Va. (arlnow.com) — Herndon is one of several Northern Virginia towns now preparing to compete for up to $50 million in I-395/95 Commuter Choice transportation funds for the 2028-29 cycle. Local governments can submit project ideas this fall, with awards next July potentially supporting new transit options, congestion relief, or other commuter improvements that could benefit Herndon residents' regional travel.
• Ban on boat, trailer parking approved for some Dranesville District roads (ffxnow.com) — If you park a boat, RV, or trailer on neighborhood streets just outside Herndon, new Fairfax County rules in the Dranesville District now sharply limit where those vehicles can stay. The Town of Herndon itself is excluded, but nearby communities south of Leesburg Pike face new restrictions after a 10-0 Board of Supervisors vote, despite objections from some residents about outreach and necessity.
