Herndon One Of The Richest Areas In The United States: Report

HERNDON, VA — The latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates are out, and they show that Herndon and Fairfax County are among the wealthiest places in the entire country.

Fairfax County was third overall on the list with a median household income of $112,844. Herndon's median income is a bit below that at around $100,000, but it's still nearly double the nationwide median income of $55,755, according to 2015 figures.

You won't have to go far in Northern Virginia to find the two localities higher than Fairfax County: Loudoun County and Falls Church, first and second respectively.

In addition, the city of Fairfax, Arlington County, and three other counties in the general D.C. area cracked the top 20 nationwide.

Unfortunately, we pay for that high income with a very high cost of living. According to Zillow, Herndon has a median home price of $501,200, way more than the national median of $199,200.
