• Roanoke's Drought Is Getting Worse (roanokerambler.com) — Roanoke's worsening drought directly affects Hollins-area residents, with the Western Virginia Water Authority hosting a public water-supply open house Aug. 25 at 3322 Hollins Road NE. Carvins Cove is more than 17 feet below full pond, voluntary conservation is in place, and officials warn mandatory restrictions could follow if conditions don't improve.
