Police: Bicyclist Badly Injured on W&OD Trail
He was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries: Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

An Ashburn man was hospitalized last week following a bicycle crash on the Washington & Old Dominion trail, according to a police report.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday to the scene of the accident, on the hiking and biking trail just west of Ashburn Village Boulevard. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, the police report said.

A spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office had no further information Friday about the accident or the man’s condition. The sheriff’s office did not release his name, age or place of residence.
On Tuesday afternoon, the man was riding his bicycle on the W&OD trail when a juvenile bicyclist passed him and then attempted to take a side path, the sheriff’s office said. The juvenile clipped the victim’s bicycle, and the victim fell from his bike.

The victim was wearing a helmet, the sheriff’s office said. The juvenile was not injured.
