Leesburg's annual Independence Day Parade starts the holiday with a patriotic march through historic downtown. The parade begins at Ida Lee Park, travels down King Street and concludes at Fairfax Street, with floats, community groups and the 16th annual Patriot's Cup Competition.

After the parade, residents can explore Leesburg's Revolutionary history during a special America 250 event on the courthouse grounds. The day includes exhibits, reenactors, hands-on activities, guided tours and a live reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Loudoun Museum will commemorate America's 250th anniversary with Revolutionary-era exhibits, patriotic family-friendly activities and walking tours of historic downtown Leesburg. Tours are scheduled at the top of each hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission: Free
Leesburg's evening celebration brings music, food and fireworks to Ida Lee Park. Gates open at 6 p.m., Go Go Gadjet takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. and the region's largest fireworks show is scheduled to light up the sky at 9:30 p.m.

About 20 minutes from Leesburg, Franklin Park will host a family-friendly Independence Day celebration with inflatables, games, a DJ, face painting, food for purchase and live music. Fireworks are scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m., accompanied by live music from Loudoun Symphonic Winds.
