• Man In 'Scream' Mask Arrested With Bricks Near Lorton Community Center: Police (patch.com) — Lorton residents are learning more about a string of costly overnight vandalism incidents at the community center on Lorton Station Boulevard, where windows were repeatedly smashed over the summer. Detectives say they arrested a 22-year-old Lorton man after watching him don a "Scream"-style costume, grab bricks, and run toward the building, leading to multiple misdemeanor and felony property-damage charges and a November court date.
   

• A Virginia man's quest to track down a cat accidentally carted away with old furniture (wtop.com) — A Northern Virginia family was reunited with their cat Mike after he was accidentally hauled away inside an old couch and eventually taken to an animal shelter in Lorton. After stops at a warehouse, transfer station, and two shelters, staff and animal control helped track him down, offering a useful reminder to Lorton pet owners about microchipping and calling local shelters quickly.
