• Former Hayfield Secondary School principal accused of embezzling school funds (ffxnow.com) — Two Lorton residents connected to Hayfield Secondary School face felony embezzlement charges after Fairfax County police allege they used school funds for personal expenses. Former principal Darin Thompson recently turned himself in, while finance technician Stephanie Gale has a November court date. Detectives say there's no known link between the cases beyond their working relationship.
   

• Unified Industries Wins $33.2M Navy Contract for Trident II D5 Test Equipment Support (envzone.com) — A significant share of a new $33.2 million Navy contract will be carried out in Lorton, where Unified Industries will provide long-term support for Trident II D5 test equipment through 2031. While the company is based in Alexandria, nearly a quarter of the work – and associated jobs and activity – is slated for Lorton facilities.
