Burglar Flees When Homeowners Walk In: Police

LORTON, VA — A local couple arrived home Thursday night and surprised a burglar, who fled the scene and was still at large on Friday, according to the Fairfax County police.

The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 7700 block of Grandwind Drive, according to a poice report. The homeowners walked in and found an unknown man inside their home.

As one homeowner called police, the suspect ran toward the other and pushed her to the floor. The suspect then ran out of the house, the police said.

The victim did not require medical attention. The police searched the Lorton area near Interstate 95 for the burglar, aided by a helicopter and officers with dogs.

The burglar was described by police as a male of unknown race, wearing all black, including a black mask over his face.
