Mason Neck State Park

For hikers who just want to enjoy their time outdoors and trek on.&nbsp; If you want to hike, but don't like hiking alone, join our park interpreters on this moderately paced hike. We will meet at the High Point Trailhead each month and take a long 3.5-5-mile hike on a variety of trails. These trails are not stroller- or wheelchair-friendly. Hikers should be able to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;a moderate pace throughout the hike. There will be slight elevation changes and exposed roots along packed-dirt trails. Most hikes will not be loops, so we will hike to the observation point and return the same way.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sturdy shoes, hiking sticks, bug repellent,&nbsp;and water are highly recommended for all hikes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

This program will train guests to focus on the present moment, observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment, and enhance their awareness of the mind-body connection. Meet your guide at the visitor center. If the weather is nice, we will be outdoors.&nbsp;Bring a towel or a mat if you would like to sit on the floor. We will also have chairs available. Reservations are recommended but not required. Please call the visitor center to reserve your spot at 703-339-2385. Participants should be at least 15 years old and be able to follow the guided mindfulness steps.&nbsp;

Buzz on over for Pollinator Palooza, a celebration of pollinators and the plants they depend on.&nbsp; Enjoy hands-on activities from Mason Neck interpreters and&nbsp;our program partners, the Fairfax Master Naturalists, Northern Virginia Bird Alliance, Master Gardeners, the Fairfax Tree Stewards, and others. Sponsored by The Friends of Mason Neck State Park. Take a tour of our pollinator gardens and learn how planting a few simple plants in your yard can support wildlife. Meet us near the picnic area for this event and learn how you can become a champion for these hardworking wildlife species. This event is free to attend, after you pay the parking fee.&nbsp;

The annual Purcellville Wine and Food Festival returns on Saturday, July 18, in Dillon’s Woods at the historic Fireman’s Field Complex (250 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville). The festival will take place from 2 to 8 p.m., inviting guests to gather with family and friends for an afternoon and evening of local wine, beer, food, live music, art, and more.
This year’s event will showcase 40 vendors, including wineries, breweries, food and snack vendors, and local exhibitors. Enjoy live music performances by the Rick Reaves Band, The Darby Brothers, and the Franklin Park Big Band. The “Arts in the Garden” section, hosted by the Purcellville Arts Council, will highlight local artists who will create works of art live on-site. Additional activities include face painting and a photo stand-in booth. 
Early bird ticket pricing is available through 5 p.m. on July 17: 
• Early bird admission (ages 17 and over): $5 (+ tax) 
• Early bird drink tickets (6 oz wine or 12 oz beer): $8.50 (+ tax) 
• Early bird drink ticket package: 4 tickets for $32 (+ tax) 
• Early bird bottle of wine purchase: $35 (+ tax), available from participating wineries (bottles must be consumed on-site)
A souvenir glass will be provided with the purchase of the first drink ticket. Save time and money by purchasing your tickets in advance. 
The popular VIP experience returns for $275 (+ tax) and includes admission for six, a reserved table for six, three bottles of local wine, six souvenir glasses, six drink tickets, early entry to the festival, special commemorative gifts, and a selection of sweets and savories for the table.
