Comment Period Set to Close on Great Parks, Great Communities

There is still time to provide input on the future of the park system in your community.   The draft Great Parks, Great Communities Park Comprehensive Plan was released late August 2010.  Four public input meetings were held in early October to gain public input on the plans.  Presentations and meeting summaries are available on the project web site (http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/plandev/greatparks).

The Park Authority currently seeks input and comments on the draft plan.  The plan consists of one countywide chapter and 14 district chapters.  All chapters contain issues identified through the public process and strategies developed to address those issues.  District chapters also contain a listing of parks currently located within that district and the classification of each.  Comments on issues, strategies, and classification of parks are requested.

Input and comments can be made through November 15, 2010; they can be made online through the project web site (http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/plandev/greatparks) or sent by email (parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov).

After the comment period ends on November 15, input will be compiled and the plan will be revised as appropriate.  The revised Great Parks Park Comprehensive Plan will be presented to the Park Authority Board for adoption in the first quarter of 2011.
