Lightning Causes Fire At Lorton Home: Officials
Lightning struck a home and caused a fire Sunday night in Lorton, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

LORTON, VA—Lightning struck a home and caused a fire Sunday night in the 9500 block of 5th Place in Lorton, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. No one was injured, and the fire caused approximately $12,500 in damages.
Units were sent to the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the roof of a two-story, single-family home. They found fire inside the walls and floors, and the flames quickly were extinguished.
Six people were home at the time of the lightning strike. The smoke alarms soon sounded and the occupants evacuated.
