Lightning Strike Causes Fire at Lorton Home

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue firefighters responded Tuesday night to a townhouse fire, after lightning struck the roof and caused the fire, according to the fire department.
Firefighters responded to a call at approximately 7:55 p.m. Tuesday in the Lorton area of Fairfax County. The single-family townhouse is located at 8868 Hibiscus Court.
Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the roof and attic of the three-story, end unit townhouse when they arrived. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. No one was home when the fire broke out.

A neighbor witnessed lightning strike the roof and called 911. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupant. There were no injuries.
