Lorton Standoff Ends When Man Dies After Shooting Himself: Police
A man who barricaded himself inside a house in Lorton died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday night, police said.
LORTON, VA — A man who barricaded himself inside a house in Lorton died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday night, according to the Fairfax County Police Deaprtment. Detectives from the police department's Major Crimes Bureau and Crime Scene Unit are investigating the incident.
Police officers were called to the area Sunday evening in response to reports that a man was acting erratically inside a house armed with a firearm.
The barricade event in the 10900 block of Belmont Blvd has ended. The man involved has died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau and Crime Scene Unit are responding to assume the investigation. #FCPD https://t.co/47KkJ4xASt

Officers and specialty units with the FCPD tried to make contact with the armed man who had barricaded himself inside the home in the 10900 block of Belmont Blvd. During the incident, neighbors were asked to shelter in place.
