Police: Toddler Found at Bottom of Pool in Life-Threatening Condition

A toddler is in life-threatening condition Monday after he was found unresponsive Sunday afternoon at the bottom of a pool at Pirate’s Cover Waterpark in Lorton, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police are investigating what happened Sunday at the Pohick Bay water park in Lorton, police said. The incident took place at around 5 p.m. Sunday, June 14, according to FCPD.

The pool was being cleared due to lightning in the area, when a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool, according to police.

Police did not say if the child was found in the main pool or the “tot pool.”

Officers assigned to the Marine Patrol Unit were summoned to the pool and immediately began chest compressions, police said. Fire & Rescue personnel arrived and continued CPR, according to police.

The child is in life-threatening condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said.

Police are investigating the incident.
