Woman injured, man arrested following shooting incident in Lynchburg (wsls.com) — Lynchburg police say a woman is in stable condition at Lynchburg General Hospital after being shot Saturday night on Oxford Street, and a 31-year-old man is now jailed without bond. Investigators are still gathering information and are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to contact Detective Owen or Crime Stoppers.
   

2. Lynchburg Humane Society gives supporters first look at new regional veterinary clinic (wset.com) — Lynchburg pet owners will soon have access to a new low-cost Regional Veterinary Clinic on Old Graves Mill Road, run by the Lynchburg Humane Society. The $7.5 million project will centralize spay-neuter services, expand affordable care across Central Virginia, and help keep more local pets in their homes instead of entering shelters.
   

3. PHOTOS: An act of remembrance (newsadvance.com) — Lynchburg residents gathered at Monument Terrace on Saturday for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Challenge, climbing the steps 14 times to honor the 2,071 steps representing the World Trade Center's 110 stories. Families, first responders, and community members carried flags and small tributes, turning the downtown landmark into a moving local act of remembrance.
   

4. Hundreds tour St. Jude Dream Home on final open house day (wset.com subscription) — Hundreds of visitors turned out Sunday to tour the St. Jude Dream Home in Lynchburg's Blackwater Run development on its final open house day. The nearly 3,000-square-foot house, built by L.G. Flint and staged by Greenfront Furniture, helped raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, with the grand prize winner to be announced Sept. 23.
