1. Concrete lining begins on Lynchburg's Blackwater CSO Tunnel (wfxrtv.com) — Lynchburg's largest-ever capital project just hit a key milestone as crews begin installing permanent concrete lining in the Blackwater CSO Tunnel, designed to hold 4.7 million gallons during heavy rains. Funded by more than $75 million in federal and grant dollars, the tunnel and new pump station aim to sharply cut sewage and stormwater overflows into Blackwater Creek and the James River by summer 2027.
   

2. Daily Bread plans expansion to make room for growing need (wset.com) — Daily Bread is renovating its historic downtown Lynchburg building, adding a mezzanine to free up kitchen space so it can keep serving more than 300,000 meals a year. Construction, expected to last six to eight months, will happen in phases while meals continue daily. The nonprofit is raising $150,000 and accepting donation commitments through October 31, inviting Lynchburg residents and partners to help fund the project.
   

3. HOMETOWN ENTERTAINMENT: Fall festivals, art shows and Violent Femmes concert set for the next several days (wdbj7.com) — Lynchburg residents can enjoy the 53rd annual Lynchburg Art Festival this Saturday at E.C. Glass High School, featuring more than 100 artists and free admission. The roundup also spotlights regional events like pumpkin festivals, heritage celebrations, and a Violent Femmes concert in Roanoke. It's a busy stretch of arts and entertainment within an easy drive of Lynchburg.
