3. State approves 11 new historical markers, including one in Lynchburg (cardinalnews.org) โ Lynchburg is getting a new state historical marker honoring Lt. Gen. George G. Loving Jr., an E.C. Glass graduate who became a highly decorated Air Force leader in World War II and Korea. The marker, sponsored by the Lynchburg Area Veterans Council, is slated for Fort Avenue and comes as Virginia approves 10 other markers recognizing significant Black history, churches, and lynching sites statewide.

Lynchburg Police detective helps untangle web of 1,500 swatting incidents nationwide (wjla.com) โ A Lynchburg Police Department detective's investigation into a local swatting report has grown into a nationwide case involving more than 1,500 incidents. Working with local, state, and federal partners, Detective Gabriel Brown helped identify several suspects, including one from the Lynchburg area, before the case was handed to the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office for potential conspiracy and terrorism charges.
