• Dairy Queen closes in Madison Heights as 7 Brew plans move forward (wset.com) — Madison Heights residents are losing their local Dairy Queen, which has officially closed, but a 7 Brew drive-thru coffee shop is already in the planning pipeline for the same site. Amherst County Planning and Zoning is reviewing site plans, though there's no timeline yet for approvals or construction to begin.
   

• Givens, Lloyd Wayne (nrvnews.com) — Longtime Madison Heights resident Lloyd Wayne Givens, a BWXT retiree who later worked at Central Virginia Community College, passed away at home on September 24. His family is honoring his wish for no formal services and invites memorial donations to Hunters for the Hungry in nearby Big Island instead.
