According to Central Farm Markets, the market will highlight fresh local pork, chicken and fish; dairy, cheeses and eggs; prepared foods and baked goods; and fresh flowers. There will also be table seating, live music, chef demonstrations, children’s activities and more.

The new market will run on Saturdays from May 2 to November 21 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Central Farm Markets currently operate in three other locations in Washington, DC, and Maryland. Debra Moser and Mitch Berliner launched their first location in Bethesda, MD, in 2008. Their stated mission is to provide a professionally managed community venue where shoppers can find locally grown fresh and prepared food of high quality, as well as to support innovation and sustainable agricultural practices.

The Central Farm Market website notes that its markets also support local communities with activities and events to educate and fight hunger.

According to Farmers Market locator FarmMarketDex, the new Gainesville market joins just half a dozen others in the county.
