MANASSAS, VA –"Should have used the putter, not the driver."
The folks at the Magic Putting Place in Manassas could be forgiven if they'd responded with something other than mirth to the scene that greeted them April 14: a car had managed to vault over a sidewalk, pass a grass verge, knock out their fence and come to rest against a tree overlooking their miniature golf course.
It's not what any business wants to deal with.
But the Magic Putters told Patch the photo seemed like an obvious candidate for the weekly social media posting schedule they like to maintain, so they added it to their Facebook feed, with the caption "Our fence will be repaired in the coming weeks but in the meantime, please excuse our mess. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the tree will survive as well."
Their neighbors took it from there.
"Tiger Woods going to play some putt putt?," one asked.
"Really drove the green on that hole," said another.
"Beware Manassas drivers!" someone said. "That is not the secret shortcut to Nathan's" another advised.
"The response was comical, we didn’t expect that," the Magic Putting Place told Patch. "We’re just super happy it didn’t happen during our hours of operation."
They said they'll be open for business as usual. Visit at 8902 Mathis Avenue in Manassas. Clearly, you never know what you'll find there.
