MANASSAS, VA – A new option for authentic Venezuelan cuisine is coming to Manassas with Arepa Social, which will have its grand opening May 8.
Owner Maria Fernanda Guzman told Patch in an email that the restaurant will focus on traditional dishes, prepared fresh daily. “My favorite is the pabellón, which is a traditional Venezuelan dish consisting of shredded beef (carne mechada), black beans (caraotas), white rice (arroz blanco), and fried sweet plantains (tajadas).”
In addition to the pabellón and arepas, the restaurant’s Facebook page promises empanadas, tequeños, hot dogs and hamburgers.
The Guzmans say they have called Manassas home for many years and are involved in the local business community. Maria’s husband Jovanny Guzman has a tire repair company and her sister operates a banquet hall in Dumfries.
The restaurant idea came about because, she says, “We felt the city was missing a dedicated space where the community could experience the incredible variety and rich flavors of authentic Venezuelan cuisine.”
The restaurant has been in soft-open mode since the beginning of May.
