MANASSAS, VA – Akua Akomea, 23, who was reported missing early on Thursday, was found dead on a Manassas Park trail later that day, Prince William County police report.
Akomea’s death is being investigated by the Manassas Park police. "At this time, it appears this is an isolated incident and no foul play is suspected," they said in a statement.
Prince William County police had issued an alert asking for help finding Akomea after she was reported missing at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, May 7. The alert noted that Akomea was believed to be missing under voluntary circumstances and that she had recently made statements that prompted concern for her wellbeing.
Manassas Park police responded to a call reporting an unconscious person on a Blooms Park trail shortly after 9 a.m.
They determined that she was deceased, and it was Akomea.
Manassas Park police say they have cleared the scene.
