VIENNA, VA – The Vienna Community Band will help honor fallen service members at the historic Flint Hill Cemetery this Memorial Day.
The band will provide a musical backdrop for a ceremony organized by American Legion Post 180, which has been hosting Memorial Day commemorations since 1953.
The cemetery, which dates back to 1852, is the resting place of many prominent local figures, including service members. According to the cemetery, it holds the remains of at least 26 American Civil War soldiers.
The event will include a Color Guard presentation by American Legion Post 180, a wreath-laying ceremony, addresses by local figures, solemn and patriotic music and a sounding of “Taps.” The Vienna Community Band will contribute perform hymns, service anthems and other reflective works.
The free event will be held Monday, May 25, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the cemetery in Oakton. More information can be found here.
