Manassas Man Accused Of Child Neglect After Fake Robbery Report Leads Cops To Guns: Police

Police say a man who claimed to be a robbery victim actually accidentally shot himself.

MANASSAS, VA – A young Manassas man is facing multiple charges, including child neglect and allowing access to firearms by children, after police say he tried to cover up an accidental gun discharge by inventing an armed robbery.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers responded to the 10400 block of Bermuda Lane in Manassas at 7:48 a.m. on Tuesday for what was reported as an armed robbery. They say a man had called a public safety center, claiming he’d been robbed and shot in the hand by men he didn’t know.

Police say instead, the man had shot himself in the hand accidentally when a firearm he’d been handling discharged. No other injuries were reported.

During their search of the residence, police say they found two loaded firearms that were unsecured and could have been accessed by a child who was also staying in the home.

Jaydon Isaiah Aloumouati, 19, of Manassas, was arrested. Police say he is charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, one count of reckless handling, one count of child neglect, two counts of allowing access to firearms by children and one count of filing a false police report. His first court date is pending.
