MANASSAS, VA – In an inverted fairy tale, a Manassas police officer on Monday saved a dragon in distress. Luckily, no princesses were slain in the process.
According to the Manassas City Police Department, an officer came across a bearded dragon suffering on hot asphalt. The prince, er, officer, swept the bearded dragon away to a magical animal shelter where the rescued reptile dunked his head in some cool water and then happily rehydrated.
The police department took the time to remind residents that "if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for paws ... or scales."
Social media users, the villagers of the digital age, were for once #teamdragon, and sent well wishes to the little beast and even offered to open their homes to him.
