MANASSAS, VA – Manassas homeowners will see their property taxes and utility fees increase this month, as new county tax and utility rates take effect, according to a new report.
Inside Nova reports that property taxes will jump by 5 percent as of July 1, when the city's new budget provisions take effect.
The new taxes support the city’s $600 million budget, which will reduce real estate taxes by 2 cents and eliminate the vehicle license fee.
All told, average residential tax bills will go up about $24 a month, while nonresidential tax bills will increase around $112 a month.
Water, sewer and electricity rates also increased as of July 1, and residential customers will see those bills increase by $20 a month on average.
