This New NoVA Vintage Market Launches This Weekend

MANASSAS, VA – The first Manassas Vintage Market will be held this weekend, with more than 70 local vendors planning to attend.

The Manassas Vintage Market will make its debut on Sunday with dozens of local vintage vendors, makers, artisans and others.

Organizer Ben Nagro, 22, told Patch there's a lot of interest in vintage shopping in Manassas, but most of the big markets are far away. That's what inspired him to create this event.

"I love markets in general to vend and shop personally," he said. But, "most of the markets are in areas like DC or Richmond, and I feel like we have the same stuff, but no place to sell it. That's the main reason I wanted to create this and provide that space for a lot of these amazing local vendors so the people in Manassas don't have to drive hours to experience these same joys."

Nagro has his own business, Closet Revival, where he mainly sells 90s-Y2K tees and jerseys. He's been running the business for about two years and formally became a limited liability company about a year ago.

Closet Revival has recently been a regular at Fairfax's Main Street Market. The shop's physical space currently exists in his parents' basement, but Nagro says he's saving up for his own location.

This Sunday's market is the first such event he's ever organized. He said he's thrilled at the response.

"I feel super blessed to have a lot of local vendors that have trusted my idea and process without having a lot to back myself up. This is my very first market I've ever hosted myself, and everything is new to me, but I knew exactly what I wanted, and I knew the biggest difference with me is that I am genuinely doing this for the people and city of Manassas and not just any money you can make from it. A majority of the profits have been going right back into marketing and buying signs and things that will be good for the vendors and shoppers. I'm blessed to have 70-plus vendors to give me this trust and all the support they have," Nagro said.

He's hoping to tap into Manassas' interest in vintage and keep the market going, perhaps as a monthly or bimonthly event.

His favorite vintage finds? Soccer jerseys. "My favorite thing to find and sell is vintage soccer/football jerseys because it is so cool finding things that you watched growing up still around," he says.

"The best thing about vintage is that there is always something you've never seen before or thought you were never going to see again. The same goes with the people, and that's one of my favorite parts of all of this, just meeting and making such amazing connections with everyone."

The Manassas Vintage Market will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Prince William Street commuter lot in Manassas. Among the vendors are specialists in sneakers and natural fiber clothing, jewelry makers, a henna painter and more.
