CFH Expands Two Critical Housing Stability Programs

New Counties Include Fauquier, Madison, Culpeper, Orange And Rappahannock Counties

Fauquier County, Va. — Creating Foundations for Hope (CFH), a 47-year-old Northern Virginia nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve housing stability, has expanded two of its most impactful Northern Virginia assistance programs into Fauquier, Madison, Culpepper, Orange and Rappahannock Counties.

The expansion brings both CFH's Security Deposit Assistance Program and its Senior Emergency Assistance Program to eligible residents, increasing access to resources that help people remain safely housed during times of financial hardship.

The Security Deposit Assistance Program helps income-qualified households overcome one of the most significant barriers to securing stable housing: the upfront cost of a security deposit. By providing financial assistance for security deposits, the program enables individuals and families to move into safe, permanent rental housing while avoiding homelessness or unstable living situations. Assistance is repaid over time without interest, allowing those funds to be recycled to help future households.

The Senior Emergency Assistance Program provides financial assistance to low-income seniors facing unexpected housing or medical expenses that could jeopardize their ability to remain safely in their homes. Eligible participants may receive help with rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, medical expenses, prescriptions, medical equipment, transportation, and other emergency needs, along with case management and referrals to additional community resources.

"Every day we see hardworking individuals and older adults facing impossible financial decisions that can threaten their housing stability," said CFH Executive Director George Davies. "These new grants allow us to extend a helping hand to even more Virginia residents at exactly the moment when timely assistance can prevent homelessness, preserve dignity, and provide hope."

Funds for the expansion are being provided by local grants and by individual donations. The 9th Annual CFH 5K for Affordable Housing, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, at Occoquan Regional Park, is a major source of CFH funds for the year. The race includes a virtual component that can be run or walked anywhere, as well as a 4th Annual Cornhole Toss.More information can be found at cfhva.org.

The expansion reflects CFH's ongoing commitment to serving communities throughout Northern Virginia with practical, effective solutions that address housing insecurity before it becomes a crisis. The organization offers a continuum of housing-related services, including affordable homeownership opportunities, down payment assistance, security deposit assistance, affordable rental housing, emergency assistance for seniors, and food distribution programs.
