MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County police have arrested a man who is accused of raping and injuring a woman in a wooded area in Manassas.
Curtis Lucas Brown Jr., 45, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident in connection with the Aug. 19 assault, which was reported shortly before 11 p.m. in the 8300 block of Sudley Road, police said.
Investigators said the 39-year-old victim and Brown knew one another. The woman was sexually assaulted in a wooded area before she was able to get away from Brown and report the incident to police, according to authorities.
The woman suffered injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Police did not provide additional information about her condition.
Following an investigation, detectives obtained warrants charging Brown with one count each of rape, abduction with intent to defile, object sexual penetration and assault and battery, as well as two counts of strangulation.
Before his arrest, attempts to locate Brown had been unsuccessful, police said.
