'Factory of Fear' haunted attraction returns to the ARTfactory in Manassas (insidenova.com) — A major Halloween draw is returning to downtown Manassas as ARTfactory's four-story "Factory of Fear" haunted attraction reopens Oct. 15 with a new "Outbreak" storyline. Community volunteers are transforming the historic building and adjoining Caton Merchant Family Gallery, with proceeds supporting accessible arts programs and a themed group art exhibit running through Oct. 31.
2. DMV Oct REI Meet-up! (10/7/26) @ 6:30pm! (biggerpockets.com) — Manassas-area residents interested in real estate investing are invited to a free NoVA REI meetup at Tysons Corner Center on Wednesday, October 7, at 6:30 p.m. The casual gathering welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned investors to talk house-hacking, rentals, flips, and more, with no sales pitches and plenty of chances to network with others from across Northern Virginia and DC.
3. A new RTP book says IBM nearly picked Manassas (potomaclocal.com) — Manassas nearly became IBM's flagship campus in the 1960s, but Virginia's segregationist stance reportedly pushed the company toward North Carolina instead. The piece clarifies that IBM later opened and operated a Manassas manufacturing plant from 1969 to 1994, correcting common misconceptions about its closure and the city's last segregated school.
4. Charity of the Month: Susan G. Komen (wtop.com) — Manassas residents are part of the Susan G. Komen DMV service area, which targets some of the nation's highest breast cancer rates and stark racial disparities. The group invites locals to learn their risk, join survivor and supporter networks, volunteer, attend nearby events, or start fundraisers to back patient support and research.
