ALEXANDRIA, VA — A man arrested for shoplifting at a McLean department store last December was sentenced in federal court on Wednesday for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to a U.S. Department of Justice release.
On Dec. 3, 2023, lose protection personnel contacted police after apprehending 27-year-old Najee O. Lewis, aka Bebo, for shoplifting merchandise at the store, according to court documents.
While taking Lewis into custody, Fairfax County Police found a .40 caliber Glock handgun in Lewis' pants. The firearm had a round in its chamber and 22 rounds in an extended magazine.
Lewis had previous convictions in Prince William County for two separate felony robbery offenses, according to court documents.
In addition, Lewis was convicted for illegally possessing a firearm, after appearing in a music video showing him with a stolen 9mm handgun. At the time of his arrest in that case, Lewis was less than four months into a 10-year term of supervision following his release from prison on the two felony robbery convictions.
Since Lewis was a convicted felon, it was unlawful for him to possess a firearm when he was arrested at the McLean department store. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to three years in prison.
