McLEAN, VA — Drivers using the eastbound Dulles Toll Road in McLean will soon encounter a temporary lane split at the Route 123 (Dolley Madison Boulevard) overpass as part of a bridge rehabilitation project expected to continue into early 2028.
After postponing the late-June implementation, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced the traffic shift will occur around 10 p.m. on Thursday. The temporary traffic pattern is expected to remain for approximately 18 months while crews rehabilitate the eastbound Dulles Toll Road bridge over Route 123.
The lane split is designed to allow construction crews to work safely on the bridge while minimizing traffic disruptions. According to VDOT, all eastbound Dulles Toll Road ramps to and from Route 123 will remain open throughout construction.
