A McLean Man Did A “Quadruple-Take” After This $502K Lottery Win

A McLean man won $502,008 while playing the Virginia Lottery's Marvelous Money: Vegas Nights game online.

MCLEAN, VA — A McLean man won a $502,008 Virginia Lottery prize while playing an online instant game from his home, according to lottery officials.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, was upstairs using his computer when he decided to play Marvelous Money: Vegas Nights. He soon discovered that he had won the prize.

"I did a triple- and quadruple-take," the winner told Virginia Lottery officials when claiming his winnings.

Virginia law allows lottery winners to claim prizes anonymously. When a winner makes that choice, the Virginia Lottery does not publicly release the person's identity.

Marvelous Money: Vegas Nights is among the online instant games offered through the Virginia Lottery's website and mobile app. Its jackpot increases as more people play, and the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.31.

Players must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Virginia to play online. In addition to instant games, the lottery sells online tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions, Millionaire for Life, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5 and Cash 5 with EZ Match.

Virginia Lottery profits support K-12 public education across the state. Fairfax County received more than $54.1 million in lottery funding for education during the last fiscal year, according to the lottery.

Statewide, the lottery generated more than $914 million for K-12 education in fiscal 2026. That amount represented about 10 percent of Virginia's total K-12 school budget.
