TYSONS, VA — A new restaurant and entertainment concept has opened at The Boro in Tysons, taking over the former Él Bebe space.
Open Road Outpost & Biergarten, a spinoff of Metropolitan Hospitality Group's Open Road restaurants, debuted Tuesday in an approximately 5,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor space. The concept features American food, craft beer, live music and an outdoor biergarten.
Metropolitan Hospitality Group, or MHG, operates three Open Road locations in Northern Virginia. The original Open Road opened in Merrifield in 2013.
"We're incredibly excited to bring Open Road Outpost & Biergarten to The Boro and introduce guests to a new take on the Open Road experience," Matt Carlin, president and co-founder of Metropolitan Hospitality Group, said in a statement. "We wanted to build on the biergarten's success and create a menu and atmosphere perfect for a weeknight dinner, post-work cocktails or Sunday football."
The restaurant features multiple large-format televisions, colorful bar areas and artwork by local artist Jack Labadie.
The menu includes hand-smashed burgers, house-smoked wings, hand-cut fries, shareable platters and seasonal specials. Drinks include craft and local beers, rotating drafts and cocktails made with spirits from Open Road Distilling Co. in Reston Town Center.
The outdoor biergarten was previously part of the Él Bebe concept. MHG retained the space and incorporated it into the new restaurant, offering live music, cornhole and full food and beverage service.
"We're so excited to welcome Open Road Outpost & Biergarten to The Boro," Tom Boylan, senior vice president at The Meridian Group, said in a statement. "This will bring a fun gathering place to the neighborhood for a great game-watching environment with an awesome menu."
A grand opening weekend is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 13, including live music from 8-11 p.m. Friday. Football-focused weekend specials and Yappy Hours are among the programs planned for the fall.
Residents of The Boro will receive a 10 percent discount throughout September.
Open Road Outpost & Biergarten joins CIRCA Bistro as another MHG concept at The Boro. MHG, which is headquartered in Falls Church, also operates concepts including Open Road, Él Bebe, TRIO Grill, Salt, Heirloom and Open Road Distilling Co.
Open Road Outpost & Biergarten is open from 11 a.m. to close Tuesday through Sunday. The outdoor biergarten is open from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, weather permitting.
