• Buc-ee's says it remains interested in Virginia, but New Kent store may still be years away (dailypress.com) — New Kent County leaders are weighing a new agreement that could push the long-awaited Buc-ee's at I-64 Exit 211 back to as late as 2031, while still offering millions in tax incentives. The company says it remains committed to Virginia and has already invested at least $5 million, but wants more time and looser job-creation requirements as transportation work delays construction.
   

• Foreclosures: 9.14.26 (richmondbizsense.com) — New Kent residents can see that a foreclosure auction is scheduled for a Pine Fork Road property at the New Kent County Circuit Court on November 4, 2026. • Virginia begins issuing chip-enabled SNAP EBT cards (nbc29.com) — New Kent SNAP recipients are among the first in Virginia to receive new chip-enabled EBT cards designed to cut down on skimming and benefit theft. Cards will arrive by mail with instructions, and residents should promptly update contact information, activate the new card, and set a PIN before the old magnetic-stripe card automatically deactivates 60 days after mailing.
