The report highlights boats shuttled between Norfolk and Newport News, underscoring how local yards sit at the center of a national maintenance backlog that limits the fleet's readiness.
   

4. Hampton fire leaves 1 person with life-threatening injuries (13newsnow.com) — Fire crews from Newport News helped cover Hampton stations during a serious auto shop fire on Shell Road that left one person with life-threatening injuries. The blaze, which involved multiple vehicles and heavy smoke, took about 45 minutes to control and remains under investigation by Hampton's fire marshal.
