The work supports the Hampton Roads Express Lanes Norfolk Segment, which is converting I-64's inside shoulder into a tolled express lane and widening bridges, ultimately tying Norfolk into a 45-mile regional express network.
2. Thieves steal SNAP benefits from Norfolk grandmother (wavy.com) — A Norfolk grandmother says thieves drained her SNAP benefits through unauthorized digital transactions, and she found dozens of others reporting similar thefts at the city's Department of Human Services office. She's urging fellow Norfolk SNAP recipients to use the program's app and card-lock feature to better protect their benefits while the state works through replacement delays.
3. Woman says jealous ex, father of her child, killed her boyfriend in front of her in Ghent (13newsnow.com) — A man was fatally shot on Colley Avenue in Norfolk's Ghent neighborhood, and police are searching for a suspect identified in connection with the killing. Investigators from Norfolk and York-Poquoson used license-plate camera technology in the manhunt, while friends and the local creative community are preparing ways to honor the victim's life and support his family.
4. Solar Eclipse: Will Hampton Roads ever be in the path of totality? (13newsnow.com) — Norfolk residents can look forward to Hampton Roads being in the path of totality for two future total solar eclipses, in 2078 and again in 2099. Jeff Jones brings second edition of Legends Gala to Norfolk in September (wtkr.com) — A major Coaches vs. Cancer Legends Gala is returning to Chartway Arena in Norfolk on September 18, bringing big-name basketball figures to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Organizer and cancer survivor Jeff Jones insisted the event stay in Norfolk, emphasizing it as a point of community pride and a way for local residents to join the fight against cancer.
