Proposed pedestrian flyover bridge moves closer to reality in Norfolk (wavy.com) β A new $50,000 grant from Norfolk Southern is pushing plans for a pedestrian flyover bridge between West Ghent and Lambert's Point closer to reality, potentially replacing the cramped Hampton Boulevard underpass. The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation will use the funding for surveying, engineering, and community outreach to design a safer elevated route for walkers and cyclists along the trail.

A new federal report urges better tracking of these modernization projects, even as the yard expands to support Ford-class carriers and Virginia-class submarines with more than a billion dollars of work already underway.

Chinese radiator shipments worth $206,513 stopped in Norfolk (wavy.com) β Customs officers at the Port of Norfolk recently seized more than 1,800 automotive radiators worth over $200,000 after discovering they were imported from China using stolen identities. Officials say the three September seizures, plus an earlier August case, reflect a growing pattern of fraudulent auto-part imports that they're targeting to protect legitimate businesses and consumers.
