• NAMI Family – to – Family Class – Register Today! (ffxnow.com) — Families in Oakton can now register for a free, eight-session NAMI Family-to-Family course starting Sept. 14, designed to help relatives of people with mental health conditions build coping and problem-solving skills. Taught by trained family members, the evidence-based class meets Monday evenings in Oakton and requires advance registration through NAMI Northern Virginia's website.
   

• FCPS starts new school year with full cellphone ban, fewer crossing guards and other changes (ffxnow.com) — Oakton families will see big changes this school year, from a full cellphone ban during the school day to the loss of police crossing guards at Oakton High and other schools. FCPS is also tightening rules on personal tech, adding weapons screening and bag limits at football games, and expanding virtual mental health services for students.
