ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria is once again up for Travel + Leisure's Best Cities in the U.S. list. The award is part of Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards for 2024.
The city first ranked on the travel magazine's list in 2022. Last year, Alexandria ranked in the top 10 of Travel + Leisure's list among the likes of Charleston, Nashville, Honolulu.
Visit Alexandria, the city's membership-based organization promoting tourism, has been seeking high-profile rankings like Travel + Leisure to promote Alexandria as a visitor destination and support local businesses. City officials see visitors as a way to boost consumption tax revenues and offset the cost to residents. Along with Travel + Leisure, Alexandria has appeared on lists from Condé Nast Traveler, Money magazine and Fortune in 2023.
Along with the best city nomination, Alexandria hotels Hyatt Centric Old Town, Lorien Hotel & Spa, Morrison House and The Alexandrian are nominated in the hotels category.
Voting is open to Travel + Leisure readers. Alexandria's ranking would be helped by readers ranking the city as "excellent" in nine categories. To participate, visit tlworldsbest.com/vote and register with Travel + Leisure. Voting is open through 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 26 and is limited to one per email address.
Readers who vote in the awards have a chance to win $15,000, a Viking Expedition voyage for two, or one of five more cash prizes.
