Alexandria Public Housing CEO Resigns: Report

Rickie C. Maddox is stepping down, just 7 months into her tenure.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The interim CEO of the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority has resigned, according to reports.

ALX Now reports that Rickie C. Maddox, who took over the CEO role just seven months ago, told the ARHA board in a letter that her last day would be June 19.

The ARHA Board of Commissioners will be interviewing for a new interim CEO in the coming weeks and starting the search for a new permanent leader in June, according to the outlet.

Maddox’s predecessor, Erik Johnson, was fired in September after he was discovered to be living in a public housing unit. He had only been in office for about a year. The entire 9-member board was asked to resign in October, when Mayor Alyia Gaskins said the system needed a “reset.”

The ARHA manages the city’s public housing units. The department has recently come in for criticism by residents of some of the properties it manages.
