Longstanding Del Ray Pet Supply Store Closing In June

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Dog Store is closing up shop in Del Ray, the company announced on Tuesday.

In a social media post, The Dog Store said its last day of business at its flagship 2301 Mount Vernon Avenue location would be June 27. The owners cited circumstances beyond their control for the move but said that they would reopen on Mount Vernon Avenue as soon as a suitable spot can be found.

“Rest assured that as soon as we can find a suitable location, we will fully reopen on the Avenue,” owner Paul Haire wrote. “Over the years, it has been a joy to serve you and your dogs, and we are deeply grateful for the trust, support, and community you’ve shown us.”

For now, the Del Ray shop appears to be moving to Richmond Highway, and the business reminded customers they can still be found at their location on Belle View Highway and their dog daycare on Richmond Highway.

The Del Ray store has been open since 2014.
