ALEXANDRIA, VA – Get out the aprons, Alexandria: King Arthur Baking is opening a store and cooking school in Old Town this fall.
The new location will help fill the void left by the closure of King Arthur’s Fairfax pop-up, which ran from 2024 until June. A pop-up in Bethesda operated from summer 2025 until January.
An announcement from the venerable baking company said the new location will offer hands-on baking education programs as well as sell King Arthur’s ingredients and kitchen supplies. “From baking essentials, top-quality ingredients and mixes to tools, accessories, and kitchen appliances, shoppers will be able to find everything they need – whether they’re just starting out on their baking journeys or are already pros in the kitchen,” the announcement promises.
King Arthur Flour was the first flour company founded in the U.S. and has been in operation since 1790. It has been headquartered in Norwich, VT, since 1984, and became an employee-owned company in 2004. It renamed as the King Arthur Baking Company in 2020.
Keep an eye out at 617 King Street or text BAKEVA to 27820 to get opening day updates.
