Masked ICE Agents Took 2 Alexandria Men From Their Work Truck: Immigrant Rights Group

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Two members of the Alexandria community were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday morning, the organization ICE Out of Alexandria reported.

According to the organization, two men were taken out of their work vehicle by masked ICE agents while parked at a 7 Eleven store on West Glebe Road at around 10:20 a.m. The organization says the men left their belongings and an uneaten meal in the truck and were taken away in a black SUV with tinted windows.

ICE Out of Alexandria said four community members were also taken from a nearby apartment building off Florence Drive in Alexandria's Chirilagua neighborhood at 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to the organization, some of the detained people could be taken to Farmville Detention Center, where there have been documented human rights violations. People inside have reported rotten food, a lack of air conditioning and medical neglect throughout the summer, it says.

The detention center is operated by CoreCivic, one of the largest operators of for-profit detention centers in the country, which announced contracts with the federal government worth $300 million in late 2025.

ICE Out of Alexandria called on Virginia General Assembly members to create legislation that explicitly makes ICE administrative warrants illegitimate and called on the governor to prohibit warrantless collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE. They also urged Virginia's Congressional representatives to call for for-profit detention centers like Farmville to be closed and for the Alexandria Sheriff's Office to end its cooperation with ICE.

The Alexandria Sheriff's Office says it does not cooperate with ICE and only complies with the law in transferring detainees to ICE when the agency presents a valid warrant.

Alexandria officials say they do not get advance notice when ICE will be operating in the city, nor do they assist in ICE actions.

Immigrant rights advocates argue that local law enforcement should not honor ICE administrative warrants, which can be issued by ICE immigration officers and are issued for civil violations of immigration law, not criminal offenses.

ICE Out of Alexandria describes itself as a coalition of community organizations fighting for human rights, justice, and limiting ICE activities in the city. The group has been demanding that Alexandria Sheriff Sean Casey immediately cease all voluntary cooperation with ICE.
