ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria's home sales dropped substantially in August 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to a new report.
ALX Now reports that sales were down 28.6%, from 182 in August 2025 to 130 last month.
Prices, however, were up. The average sale price of a single-family home in the city was $1.5 million, up 14.7%, though with just 20 of those homes sold in the month, relatively large swings in average value are to be expected, according to the outlet. The average price for the 110 attached homes that sold was $727,164, an increase of 13.6%.
Houses spent a very slightly longer time on the market this year compared to last: an average of 26 days as opposed to 24.
According to Redfin, the current median sale price for all homes in Alexandria, covering the past three months, is $749,990, up 9% from last year.
