GROVETON, VA – Fairfax County police are offering a reward for information about a shooting in Groveton earlier in September that left a man with serious injuries.
The Fairfax County Police Department on Tuesday announced a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in a non-fatal shooting on Robert E. Lee Place in Groveton on Sept. 12.
Police say officers responded to the 3500 block of Robert E. Lee Place just before 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 12. They found an adult man inside a vehicle suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital and has survived.
Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Bureau believe the victim was driving through a parking lot when someone on foot fired multiple rounds into the vehicle. They believe the suspect left the area in a vehicle, while the victim's vehicle remained in motion, hitting two other parked cars.
The reward is offered by Crime Solvers of Fairfax County, which is contributing up to $5,000, with an additional $5,000 provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Fairfax Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau at (703) 246-7800.
