ALEXANDRIA, VA – A new preschool for kids aged two to five has opened on Duke Street, according to a report.
The Alexandria Brief reports that the Alexandria Schoolhouse, a new, independent preschool, currently has nine students enrolled and is aiming for a total of 15. The school held an open house on Saturday for interested parents.
The school promises a play-based approach to learning, along with a natural environment, respect for children and close collaboration with families. It offers tours and free parent and child classes as a way of introducing families to their program. The inquiry-based preschool curriculum encompasses arts and movement, early literacy, social development, hands-on science experiments and outdoor activity.
Operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with options for extended days offered. Tuition varies by the program.
