ALEXANDRIA, VA – A woman was allegedly drugged at a popular Old Town bar and raped at a nearby hotel, according to a new report.
ALX Now reports that Tony Vegas El, 34, of Alexandria, is being held without bond after being charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery and abduction with intent to defile in connection with the Sept. 15 incident.
According to the report, the victim told police she was at a popular waterfront area bar with a friend when they were joined by two men, including El. The group had drinks, and the victim left one drink unattended while she and her friend left to use the bathroom. She finished the drink after she returned and immediately began to feel ill.
She says she vomited outside the restaurant and was led away by El to a side patio of a nearby hotel, where there was an outdoor couch. There, she says, El raped her.
According to ALX Now, APD's assessment of surveillance footage of the incident shows a victim who appears to be incapable of walking under her own power and El positioning the limp victim on a couch and climbing on top of her. After the assault, APD said, El struggled to hold the victim upright and eventually had to carry her away.
El says the encounter was consensual. He was arrested on Sept. 17 and has a hearing set for Oct. 28.
